The fortress at Jiayuguan

The terrific fortress at Jiayuguan in the northwest of Gansu district

The pass at Jiayuguan is the largest and most intact pass, or entrance, of the Great Wall.
The pass was built around the year 1372, in the early Ming Dynasty, near an oasis which was then on the extreme western edge of China.
